Position: Executive Director of Finance – Deming Public Schools
Beginning Date: July 1, 2017
Salary: Commensurate with administrative salary schedule.
Minimum:
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
Minimum of five years' supervisory experience in accounting, financial management and budget preparation.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Current N.M. Certified Public Accountant certificate.
Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
Knowledge of networking theory, data base structure and accounting software.
Responsibilities:
• Advises the Superintendent regarding all financial affairs.
• Accounts for all funds and moneys and the distribution thereof in accordance with normally accepted accounting procedures, and in strict compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Plans, prepares and controls the budget.
• Recommends to the Superintendent investment of district funds.
- Oversees purchases of all materials, supplies, assets and services for the district in compliance with the State Procurement Code and all federal laws.
- Secures all insurance for the district, with the exception of student insurance.
- Supervises maintenance of inventory records of all fixed assets in the district in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Provides monthly accounting of all income and expenditures.
- Prepares and analyzes all financial statements.
- Supervises the preparation of all fiscal repots to the appropriate agencies as may be required by law or regulation.
- Reviews reconciliations of all bank accounts maintained by the district.
- Maintains a continuous internal auditing program for all funds.
- Prepares periodic reports to the proper personnel concerning the status of their budgetary accounts in order to guard against overspending of any budgeted account.
- Supervises the Department of Finance and provides appropriate professional development.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.
Reports To: Superintendent
Terms of Employment: 240 days
Salary: Salary and work year to the current schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of HB212 and Board policy.
