Salary:                                 $11.79 Per Hour; Grade 19/ Step 1

JOB GOAL: To transport students in a safe and orderly manner.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety:

Conducting inspections on vehicles, equipment, and reporting their condition.

Informing the supervisor of unsafe equipment or situations.

Driving in a safe and orderly fashion, while maintaining a neat and orderly bus.

Supplying weekly reports on vehicle conditions and usage along with the status and condition of the bus.

Student safety during emergency evacuation procedures.

 

Transportation:

Checking fuel, oil, tire pressure, and recording usage.

Maintaining and submitting an accurate and complete trip record including all miles driven and problems noted.

Maintaining a safe transportation environment which includes disciplining students who are creating safety hazards and reporting the same to the Transportation Director.

Maintain service records for all buses and coordinate servicing.

 

Reporting:

Inspecting, reporting, and recording conditions which relate to the bus and usage.

Acting as consultant to the Transportation Director or his designee and making recommendations for future needs.

Maintain communications with activity drivers concerning trips, locations and bus performance.

 

Team Member:

Working in cooperation with other District Maintenance personnel, administration, faculty, and staff with regard to the conduct of activities in this function.

 

Other:

Daily cleaning and sanitizing of the vehicle, and coordinating cleaning of all buses and school

Owned vehicles.

Performing those duties which protect the health and safety of students and employees.

Performing other duties when assigned by the Transportation Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

New Mexico Commercial Driver’s License (Class B.)

First aid and CPR training desirable.

 

Physical Effort

Bends, stoops, lifts, climbs.

Lifts, moves or carries up to 50 pounds of materials.

Climbs to various heights and works in confined spaces.

Operates large and small power driven machinery such as vacuum, sweeper, buffer or other similar equipment.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 5 years experience and knowledge as a bus driver desirable.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid drivers license and Commercial Driver’s License (Class B).
