o Level 1 Teacher - $36,975.00
o Level 2 Teacher - $45,200.00
o Level 3 Teacher - $55,200.00


QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS Degree (minimum)
Valid/current New Mexico Teaching License with appropriate endorsement. (must be TESOL Endorsed)
3 years’ experience working with English Language Learners

JOB GOAL:
To provide a program of English Language Development (ELD) (3rd– 12thgrade) to limited English proficient students in order to develop proficiency in English as rapidly and effectively as possible. Use curriculum based on the state adopted WIDA English Language Development standards and provide tailored instruction of foundational skills in English and content areas to a diverse, multilevel group of student who may have had limited or no schooling.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ATTENDANCE:
Adheres to district sick leave and personal leave policies.
Punctual to job assignments and meetings.
Involved in non-required school activities.
Maintains physical stamina to meet demands of the job
INSTRUCTIONAL:
Develop and implement lesson plans that align the WIDA ELD and Common Core standards.
Develop and impart lessons that are linguistically accommodated commensurate to students' English proficiency.
Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available digital tools to enhance learning.
Monitor student progress through formative and summative evaluation and use results to inform instruction on a consistent basis.
Manage the behavior of ELs in instructional settings to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process.
Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
Provide students with the necessary affective support for them to take risks in order to maximize learning, always displaying a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward program and learners.
Collaborate with other professionals to carry out school wide instructional or related activities for English language learners.
Continually communicate with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
Implement new learning from professional development activities correlated with accelerating English language proficiency for ELs.
Be an advocate for and ensure that English language learners have an equitable educational opportunity.
Perform other duties as assigned in compliance with Title III.


KNOWLEDGE OF:
Thorough knowledge of spoken and written English including grammar, language forms and functions.
Knowledge and experience utilizing equity-based methods of discipline and motivation with students of diverse backgrounds and English learners.
Familiarity with the second language acquisition process and current research-based methods for teaching English learners.


ABILITY TO:
Demonstrated ability to communicate, understand, and work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and English learners, their parents and other school personnel.


CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT:
Maintains a high level of time on task and redirects students who are off task.
Establishes and clearly communicates the parameters for student behavior.
Recognizes and reinforces achievement and good behavior.
Administers fair and consistent discipline.
Promotes an environment in which all students feel free to participate.
Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to good health and safety.
Is aware of physical, emotional, and psychological needs of students.
Provides an orderly environment.
Insures proper care of instructional equipment and materials.


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Strives to maintain and enhance professional competence through professional reading as well as participation in workshops, conferences, and appropriate staff development programs in accordance with district guidelines.


SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS:
Strives to establish cooperative relations and makes a reasonable effort to communicate with parents/guardians when necessary and as required by state law and regulation.
Cooperates and shares professionally with member of the administration and other staff.
Maintains confidentiality about students in accordance with state and federal law as well as district policy.
Communicates with classroom teachers regarding objectives devised for each student and the material being used to accomplish those objectives.
Performs all other tasks and assumes such other duties as designed by the Director of Federal Programs.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
183 days. Salary and benefits commensurate with contractual commitments.


EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with administrative procedures and established contractual protocols.
