Beginning Date: 2019-2020 School Year

 

Salary: Salary and benefits commensurate with Level III Teacher contracts. 193 days. (5 days prior to the school year beginning and 5 days at the end of the school year) 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must possess New Mexico Administrative License.

· Minimum of five (5) years classroom experience.

· Experience working with adult learners.

· To maintain high educational standards and promote a positive school atmosphere.

· Completed or be willing to complete the Foundations of Cognitive Coaching or an equivalent coaching program.

 

REPORTS TO:

· Building Principal and/or per organizational chart

 

 

JOB GOAL:

· To assist the Principal in providing professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate a creative school program.

· To support teachers’ achievement of goals by using coaching strategies that gradually release responsibility for implementing instructional practices to the teacher (for example, co-planning, modeling, co-teaching, side-by-side coaching, and observing).

· Under the supervision of the building principal provide leadership, supervisory, administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student. Assist teachers with guidance and instructional experiences that are academically and developmentally appropriate for the classrooms as well as other programs as assigned.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Assist principals with the observation/evaluation process.

Assist principal with monitoring teacher progress by frequently observing classrooms, conferring with teachers about instructional matters, and maintaining a system of positive supervision.

Provides clear and direct feedback to teachers based on analysis of practice.

Consistently analyzes teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and examination of student work.

Use most current State and District mandated evaluation system for teacher evaluations and to observe employee performance, record observations of domains and/or competencies to conduct evaluation conferences with staff.

Assist the principal and follow procedures consistent with the Teacher Performance Evaluation Plan.

Assist principal with supervising Ancillary Staff, Educational Assistants, and Secretaries.

Assist teachers in evaluating methods and materials and developing effective learning plans and classroom management techniques.

Assist in identifying strengths and areas of performance needing growth or improvement. 

Work cooperatively with instructional staff in curriculum development, in implementation, and

in instructional effectiveness.

Assist principal in monitoring the progress of the instructional improvement plans.

 

Coordinate all testing programs at the school.

 

Coordinate SAT processes and appoint individuals to meet with all committees in a consistent and timely manner.

 

Assist the principal in providing professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate a creative school program.

 

Assist in establishing an optimal learning environment within the school, including managing the facility.

· Assist principal in Establishing a Culture for Learning to include Expectations for learning and achievement.

· Encourage classroom practices that provide opportunities for all students to achieve their academic potential.

· Provide and maintain an environment where optional student growth can take place.

· Assist in Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport

 

Assist with the implementation of the district professional development plan.

· Active facilitator/trainer in the district’s Mentor Induction Program

· Facilitates teachers’ understanding and implementation of high-yield instructional strategies.

· Fosters collaboration and teacher leadership.

· Assist principal to Create focused goals and measures of success, to drive teacher learning.

· Tracks student and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of coaching.

· Develops teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve student learning.

· Modeling of effective instruction.

 

Ensure that all school programs and activities conform to district guidelines.

· Assist the principal with keeping records and preparing reports required by District policy.

· Follow board policies and administrative rules and regulations.

 

Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.

· Assist principal with maintaining effective communication with school community.

· Assist principal with Communicating with Families or individuals about the instructional program, about individual students and engagement of families in the instructional program.

· Assist principal and staff with Communicating with Students to include Expectations for learning, directions for activities and explanation of content.

React to change productively.

Other duties as assigned by principal and/or superintendent.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education's policy on evaluation of Teachers on Special Assignment.
