Job Goal:

To deliver food to serving sites safely following food service standards and according to schedules.

                       

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Picks up and loads truck.

Prepares for breakfast and lunch services at sites.

Unloads truck.

Cleans up and returns materials and undistributed foods.

Maintains records of deliveries.

Supervises student workers.

Communicates with staff regarding deliveries and schedules.

Performs one or several food service operations including overseeing cafeteria serving, general kitchen help, cafeteria serving, cashiering, food cart operation, salad bar service, concession stand operation, assisting in food preparation, or other related duties.

Maintains personal hygiene and hygienic serving conditions in accordance with codes, standards and regulations.

Operates a variety of food preparation and service equipment.

Posts menus.

Sets up & breaks down steam tables, serving lines for breakfast and lunch, tables and chairs.

Performs daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met.

Maintains order and safety in the kitchen and cafeteria.

Washes dishes and trays, cleans, sweeps and mops food service areas.

Counts and inventories food items such as chips and candy.

Completes and maintains records such as production books, inventories and temperature logs.

Oversees students assisting with food service.

Performs cash collection and recording duties at a food serving site.

May do laundry.

Observes student behavior in the eating areas and maintains order.

May operate food delivery vehicles.

Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Safe driving principles and practices.

Safely drive and operate a food delivery vehicle.

Maintain schedules for food delivery.

Maintain records and prepare reports.

Work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.

Perform job and communicate in a noisy environment.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge and abilities as described are acceptable to meet education and experience requirements.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 

Ability to write simple correspondence. 

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to

customers, teachers, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. 

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. 

Ability to reconcile lunch ticket sales.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized

situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Drivers License for operation of a delivery vehicle. 

Health certifications for food handling as required.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use

hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. 

The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. 

The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
