CARE ROOM ASSISTANT

 

This position is a limited-time position funded by ESSER2 until May 2022 school with a potential extension until 2023 pending additional funding if available.

Reports to: Building Principal 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Verifiable work and/or character references.

Salary: $11.50/181 days

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Monitors students in school Care Room;
  • Maintains logs related to students utilizing the School Care Room;
  • Communicates with Administration, Nursing staff, staff, students and parents/guardians regarding the School Care Room;
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures;
  • Employee may be assigned to provide assistance in the school office / nurse’s office if students are not present in the School Care Room.

Ability to:

  • Perform the specific duties as assigned
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Assist and care for others
  • Maintain effective relationships with school administration, nursing staff, staff, students, and parent/guardians
  • Use standard communications equipment (radios, phone, computer); and ? Direct traffic flow and control access in and out of school Care Rooms.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • The employee must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat and move in order to perform any lift of school age children.
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work within various degrees of noise and temperature.  Interruptions of work are routine.  Flexibility and patience are required.  Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision.  After hour work may be required.  May work under stressful conditions on occasion.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with administrative procedures and established contractual protocols.
