SALARY: $2,500

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a coaching license or a coaching application with results from the NMAA to apply for their coaching license and a complete application on file.

JOB GOALS:

To prepare athletes for competition.  Participation opportunities are offered at the Varsity, Junior Varsity, ‘C’ Team, 9th-grade, 8th-grade, and 7th-grade levels of competition for many of the sponsored sports. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and playing tactics.

Conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength, and agility.

Supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising locker rooms and buses.

Teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, and responsibility to one’s team.

Monitoring athletes’ school attendance, grades, and personal conduct.

Responding to player injuries with approved first aid techniques.

Managing uniforms, equipment, and school facilities in a responsible manner.

 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Vacancies for coaching positions are developed at each school and forwarded to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for posting in schools. Candidates for coaching positions are screened and interviewed by the high school athletic director and/or principal. To apply for a coaching job, candidates submit a letter of interest to the office of Human Resources. The athletic director will review all candidate backgrounds and recommend candidates to be interviewed.

 

SALARY:

Coaching salaries vary depending on the coaching assignment and the level of competition (Freshman, Sophomore, JV, or Varsity). Applicants should list related playing or coaching experiences and any training completed. In addition, candidates should list the sports they feel most comfortable teaching/coaching.
