Substitute Teacher/Substitute Educational Assistant Posting

Requirements for applying for a Substitute Teaching/ Substitute Education Assistant Position

 

  1. Complete On-Line Application
  2. 3 days of observations -in the schools
  3. High School Diploma or GED (will need to be scanned and attached to the application)
  4. Background-  Be able to obtain a Satisfactory Background Check 
  5. Licensure- Possess a valid Substitute or Teaching License or Be able to obtain a valid Substitute Teaching License ($50.00 PED Application Fee). If applying for a subtitute license, you will need a background check for the license        (cost $59.00)

Once a complete application is submitted, you will be contacted and scheduled to complete a fingerprint and background check and other required paperwork for hire.  You will be scheduled to attend a required District Orientation.  Required Observations and schedule will be provided during Orientation.

 

SUBSTITUTE PAY

 

Teacher Class I Substitutes (High school diploma or GED; 3 days of Observations) $112.50 per day / Long Term $120.00 per day 

 

Teacher Class II Substitutes (Expired/Current Out-of-State teaching license; or Bachelor’s degree; or Qualifying college credits of 12 hours or more; 3 days of Observations) $123.00 per day / Long Term $128.00 per day 

 

Teacher Class III Substitutes (Must hold valid NM Teaching License) $138.75 per day / Long Term per certified pay scale @ Level of License and Years of Experience 

 

Teacher Class IV Substitutes (Retired NM Teacher - Must hold valid NM Teaching License) $167.25 per day/ Long Term – per Certified pay scale @ Level of License and Years of Experience + 5 days of Sick Leave 

 

Educational Assistant Substitutes (High school diploma or GED; 3 days of Observations) $15.00 per hour / Long Term $15.50 per hour

The employee must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat and move in order to perform any lift of school age children.

The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
